![]() I confirmed my file permissions for those folders are correct (myusername = read/write) and for good measure I also went to the home folder and applied permissions to all enclosed items. I can open and browse all folders EXCEPT for the Documents and Desktop folders - the folders themselves are visible but when I click into them, they show as zero items (when there's > 1 TB of stuff in Documents, and lots of files on the Desktop). I just upgraded to Catalina, but I'm not sure if this was happening before.įrom another Mac or a PC, I can connect to my iMac (connecting using my username and password) and I can see all the directories in my home folder. ![]() Filesharing is turned on, and all other folders in the Home directory are accessible. New files I put there today show up hidden tomorrow (no reboot occurs either). Opening Finder > Desktop (even relaunching Finder) they are hidden still. Running -laO ~/Desktop in terminal listed all the files as 'hidden' running chflags -R nohidden ~/Desktop then shows them as not hidden via terminal. I did have icloud drive on at one point and turned that off and thought that was my culprit but it isnt. I can have IT re-image but want to try and avoid that if anyone has a fix. I didnt make them hidden, the IT folks say they have nothing that would do that, and I have no idea what to do next. ![]() After tooling around it seems that for some reason the Desktop folder has all my previous files listed as Hidden. Over the last few days I've noticed my Documents and Desktop folders being blank. Have a work MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) managed by my company via policies etc, running 10.13.5 (just updated yesterday and didnt fix my issue).
